Local Attractions
Aldingbourne is ten minutes’ drive from the
historic city of Chichester with its Roman walls,
lovely Georgian architecture, the 900-year old Cathedral, Festival Theatre, Pallant House Gallery, shops, cafes,
bars and restaurants.
Arundel, the historic market town
dominated by the Cathedral and Castle, with its antique and craft shops
and steep, winding streets, is less than 15 minutes
away.
Goodwood, home of the Dukes of Richmond,
international sporting venue, renowned for Glorious Goodwood, Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival. Another venue to
appeal to horse racing enthusiasts, Fontwell Park Racecourse is only
two miles away.
Serious walkers, cyclists and those just out
for a stroll will find plenty to explore on the South Downs, with its beautiful chalk
downland landscape, nature reserves and rich wildlife.
There are plenty of traditional pubs serving
excellent food in the surrounding villages.
There are many miles of unspoilt coastline
close by, with bird lovers heading for Pagham Harbour and
surfers and sunbathers to West Wittering, families to Bognor Regis
or Littlehampton. The historic sailing village of Bosham is a very pleasant place to spend
an afternoon.
Other places well worth visiting are
West Dean Gardens, the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum,
Fishbourne Roman Palace and Bignor Roman Villa.
If you are interested in historic houses,
you won’t be disappointed in Petworth House, Uppark or Stansted Park.
